Corton NYC (Revisited)

Remember this restaurant where people are not allowed to take photographs? Well either this policy was not in place when these photographs were taken or they treat different people, well, differently. Here's a picture of one of their famous desserts (the brioche) found using google images:

Tim Ho Wan Dim Sim Restaurant 添好運點心專門店

Everybody has heard of this Michelin 1-star restaurant, famed for being the cheapest Michelin starred restaurant in the world. The chef used to make dim sum at Four Seasons’ Lung King Hin (龍景軒). The Line....
The menu....The Beef Cheong Fun - waht luet luet!Wasabi flavored Tomato & Fish Springroll - the orangey filling looked and tasted weird, much like wrapping a ketchup covered fish finger in Springroll pastryThe FAMOUS BBQ pork buns lived up to expectations! This was the bambi (deer) tendon. Worth a try, tasted abit like Cheong fun...Ha gao - These were abit dry Beef ball with ancient mandarin peel - juicy and full of flavor Siu Mai - The pork inside was chopped not diced which gave it extra flavourThe $36 truffle milk pudding. The combination was just wrong. Lots of pieces of truffle which really ought to have been sprinkled onto scrambled eggs! The experience:
1. Arrive at 9:53am on a lovely Saturday morning to line up for some dim sum
2. Receive ticket no. 28 at 10:04am, was asked to return in TWO hours time and to call them frequently to check the no. they are up to.
3. 11:15am... bored in Mong kok...the ticket number called at the time was 8...
4. 12:15pm... still bored in Mong kok...
5: 12:35pm... BINGO (and hear people get told that all 130 tickets for the early session (10am-4pm) had been handed out, try again at 4pm!!)

Cumulus Inc.

Cumulus Inc. was awarded one hat by The Age Good Food Guide 2010.This guy was responsible for making the salads. The menu has changed a bit since these photos were taken in December 2009, but that's what keeps things interesting! The Mustard Crumbed Pig's Tail, Garlic Snail, Pickled Shallots and Watercress is still available (it's not as bad as it sounds!). Here it is...The Seared Scallops were excellent!A little tasting from the Charcuterie - Smoked Wagyu Tongue and Mustard fruits and then some other type of meat. The Oysters were salty, but the manager basically said that's how they should be, unwashed, and get used to it! Hmm.... Some kind of shellfish bisque

Baked by Melissa (Update)

Remember Baked my Melissa? Well, here is a reminder...They are doing Cotton Candy Cupcakes during Easter for a limited time.
For those of you in NYC, check these out!
For those who are not, please proceed to drool...

Cup cakery

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT be deceived by the lovely exterior of these little monsters. The cake is okay, but if you only sell cupcakes and you can't even bake the cake then that's TRAGIC. The top is covered with what can only be described as solidified oil. Erh...score of -100. No wonder they only cost $8 each.

Chocolate fix

These Marks & Spencer Chocolate mini rolls are to die for. Thought they only sold these in the UK. Guess not.
Here's a sneak peek...

Marks & Spencer

Choccocino Muffin (Pack of 4)
The package describes them as "moist coffee muffins loaded with creamy milk and indulgently rich dark chocolate". Lives up to their description although the taste of coffee was kinda MIA.
